Vault City

Vault City is a large city located in central California founded in 2091 by the residents of Vault 8 after emerging from their vault. Vault City quickly prospered under the First Citizen and their council. This prosperity was threatened for a time in 2235, when the ghoul citizens of the nearby town of Gecko reactivated their city's power plant, which began poisoning the water table. With their water supply poisoned, Vault City repeatedly attempted to solve the problem, but eventually they were forced to turn to the New California Republic, which offered to deal with Gecko, in exchange for Vault City joining the Republic. Thus Vault City joined the NCR, and the ghouls of Gecko were removed from the territory, and the reactor shut down, and filled with cement. As of 2300, Vault City was one of the many northern states and cities looking to secede following the Republic's repeated failures in the late 2200s.
Vault City's largest export were stimpaks, which it produced in its old vault, which doubles as the city's hospital and research center. With the population skyrocketing into the hundreds of thousands, the vault had become little more than an emergency bunker, hospital, and power generator. Now a city with stucco suburbs and a skyscraper city center, with the vault entrance in that center.
