The party proceeded to begin searching the cave for the dragon's horde while Thomas went back to clearing where the spent the previous night to retrieve Maxwell. After returning to the cave, Thomas was informed that the crystal is taking the life force of anyone inside and imbuing the dinosaur eggs with that life force. This is how the dinos were being hatched. Eeblock had attempted to swim beneath the surface of the water inside the cave but due to the battle, excess silt made the water too murky to see anything. It was decided that the party would camp outside the cave with the lizard folk to avoid the harm being inflicted by the crystal and make another attempt at locating the treasure the following morning. The lizard folk now revered the party members for defeating the dragon and were happy to share their food and fires with the party. Unfortunately, the jungle was restless that night as the campsite was attacked multiple times by dinosaurs preventing the party from getting a good rest for the night.
The following morning, Bob used a detect magic spell and ventured into the cave, suffering a little from the effects of the crystal. His spell led him to a spot in the water where he was able to determine there was an underwater chamber that had a strong glow of magic inside. Clearly this is where the treasure is stashed. Eeblock, having the ability to breathe underwater, followed Bob's instructions on where to find the sunken chamber and made his way beneath the surface. He found that this chamber had been made by hands of some civilization and contained multiple rooms. After searching for a few minutes, Eeblock found a heavy chest. He managed to drag it from the chamber and hoist it onto the dry land and out of the cave, noticing that the dinosaur eggs were now larger than they had been the previous day. After several unsuccessful attempts by Thomas and Eeblock to open the chest, Jade managed to pick the lock, which unfortunately released a burst of poisonous gas. Jade managed to shrug off most of the effects of the poison and the party discovered quite a few coins and some magical items.
Just as the party determined all the contents of the chest, the entire island began to rumble. The party quickly gathers up the treasure chest and begins making their way to the beach. Thomas sends the silver raven to summon Capt. Spruce Greentree for passage back to Little Pebbles. As the raven flies away, the sun is eclipsed and a purple light bursts from the mountain the cave was in towards the blocked out sun. As the party hurried through the jungle, the quaking subsided. Due to the crystal unleashing its stored up energy, all of the dinosaurs on the island dropped dead. It was the crystal alone that gave them life. As the eclipse passed and the sun returned the purple light could still be seen faintly. The sun didn't return with the same brilliance it had prior to the eclipse which left the land in a sort of dusk. Capt. Greentree arrived, quite shaken by the new sky. He indicated there was no earthquake back at the city, but the sky everywhere appeared darkened. The boat ride back to town was quick and uneventful. Little Pebbles was completely abuzz and panicked at the state of the sky. The party made their way to the Brewhaus where they made plans for the following day.
