The morning following the eclipse, the party made a quick trip the Diner where they were able to observe a now purple star in the sky. The party believes this star to be the now diminished sun of their world. Paul Hawkgaze explained that their realm was cracking further and more alien energies were leaking in. After returning from the diner, Thomas and Eeblock made their way to the docks to secure passage back to Arcadia. The docks were swarming with people, all trying to book passage off the islands. Thomas was able to utilize his small size and make his way through the crowd to the harbormaster. The harbormaster informed Thomas that many ships were already full, but due to the letter Thomas had from the king, he directed Thomas to a few cargo ships that might be able to help them. Thomas successfully booked the party passage on a large merchant ship that was due to depart the following morning. There are no cabins on the ship, so the party will need to sleep in hammocks with the rest of the crew, but at least they had passage home.
After rejoining the party at the Brewhaus, they went shopping to replenish the healing potions that were consumed during the battle with the dragon. Along with healing potions, Thomas was able to negotiate a deal for water breathing potions for all as well as a fire breath potion to give Jade a more effective ranged attack when the time comes. The night at the Brewhaus was much more restful than the previous night in the clearing outside the cave and all of them got their much needed rest.
After a quick meal in the morning, the party made their way to the docks and aboard their transport back to Arcadia. The trip asea took a little more than a week and aside from a rough storm, was relatively uneventful. Upon arrival at Arcadia, a different mood was upon the city than what they experienced before departing for the Dwarven Isles. Thomas suggested they make a stop at Spirits before escorting Cornelius to the king's advisor. The talk around the bar was all centered on the new condition of the sun. In general, people were no longer freaking out over it, but it was still the major concern in almost everyone's life. While the party ate and drank, they discussed the possibility of assuming ownership of Hammer, Inc., Morprax's former blacksmith shop. They decided that they could inquire about paying the taxes, and if anything came up, Bob would forge a document from Morprax naming Thomas as the owner of the shop. Using the key they recovered from Morprax body, the party entered the shop and found mail stating that 110gp of taxes were due. It seams this plan to have a home in the city may just pan out.
It was now time to escort Cornelius to High Town. There was a much greater guard presence than prior their journey and the guards appeared to be more resolute and professional as they made their rounds. Arriving at the clerk's office, Thomas presented the letter from the king and introduced Cornelius Doolan. After filling out the required paperwork, the group was escorted by guards to the awaiting advisor Tim. Tim was unfazed by the new look of the party and presented them with their Rope Trick Rope reward for retrieving Cornelius. Tim quickly informed Cornelius that he was to be escorted to Nightstone the very next day where he is to begin his work at the Whispering Caves. Thomas was quick to point out that the party was now in need of work and that they were very familiar with the roads to Nightstone. With any luck, they will be given the escort job and hopefully see how this mystery plays out.
