The Underground Fights

by Thomas Tallfellow

After learning that Maxwell Boulder is working undercover to get to the bottom of the illegal fights, our band of adventurers begin making plans to gain access to the fights and try to make contact with Maxwell. Hoping to infiltrate the group by smooth talking with the bartender Rafael at the Giddy Gnome, they head over to the tavern and strike up a conversation. As the fight club is illegal, Rafael stays close to the vest and gives the party no useful information whatsoever. Dejectedly, the party leaves the Giddy Gnome and heads over to see their old friend Jerry at the Dirty Stump. It is good to have friends in low places, as Jerry was happy to provide information about the club and offer to acquire a couple of tickets for Eeblock and Bob to attend the fights that night. Thomas placed a small wager on the favored fighter to show their appreciation for the information and tickets.

Not wanting to be recognized from his earlier visit to the Giddy Gnome, Bob disguised himself prior to he and Eeblock attending the fights. Meanwhile, Thomas and Jade staked the outside of the tavern hoping to encounter their Dwarven target Maxwell Boulder. Nothing of interest happened outside the tavern, but Eeblock and Bob learned that a Dwarf called "The Boulder" is one of the fighters. Clearly, this is their man.

The following day, the party made a visit to Jerry once again to inquire about becoming fighters in the next fight. Once again, Jerry proved his worth and told them how to go about entering the fights during an "open fight" night that was happening in two nights. Jade and Eebrock both jumped at the opportunity to participate under the fighting names the Ragin' Arcadian and the Defender. Bob and Thomas purchased tickets to attend the fights as spectators. This time Thomas made a larger bet against the favored fighter. To prepare for the fight, Jade bought herself a green mask while Eebrock used his special armor to form a helmet obscuring his face as a costume.
