The Rock of Bral

by Thomas Tallfellow

Having defeated the dangerous creatures aboard the derelict Mind Flayer ship, the party was free to search it's cargo hold for additional treasure. While searching the ship, many dead bodies, both human and Mind Flayer, were found aboard the ship. There were also many egg masses, presumably from the terrible creature that almost harvested Jade's brain just moments earlier. Jade made quick work of every egg mass she encountered, ensuring no more of those creatures would spawn aboard this ship. The ship wide search paid off as the party found several large crates containing goods meant for trade. There were many potions found, some of which the party agreed to keep, others which they decided to sell for funds to hire a crew and make repairs to the Moon Dancer. It took several trips, but eventually all the goods were aboard Captain Harry's ship and Flapjack continued on the course towards the Rock of Bral.

It wasn't long however when Capt. Harry spotted another ship appear from behind an asteroid. It appears the derelict ship was a trap set by a Night Spider ship operated by creatures known as Neogi. Once again, the Scale of the Dragon found themselves involved in ship to ship combat, where their lack of experience really showed. The three party members tried their hardest but were unable to strike the spider like vessel. Fortunately, the enemy was also struggling to inflict damage. Only one of the two attacks that struck the Moon Dancer managed to do any damage and that was minimal. After only a couple of volleys between the two ships, two new ships appeared on the scene. These ships were matching galleys from the Rock of Bral's Navy. Realizing they were now vastly outgunned, the Neogi ship made a hasty retreat to search for easier prey elsewhere. One of the galleys moved up alongside the Moon Dancer to inquire as to the ship's destination and who we were. When Captain Harry informed the Githyanki captain of the Encourageable that we were headed to Bral, the Githyanki offered their services to escort us safely to Bral's docks.

Upon reaching Bral, Harry recommends that we clean ourselves up, find some accommodations for a few days and get some rest. The following day we will work on selling our goods and locating Commodore Krux. Harry recommends we make our way along Trader's Way in Middle City to the Frothing Mug in. There we will be able to get a hot meal, a cold drink and a comfortable bed. While navigating the streets of this strange new city, Thomas utilizes his cartographer's tools and works on a map so the party will be able to find their way should the become separated from Harry at any time.

After spending a restful night at the Frothing Mug, Harry suggests that he sells the goods while the party locates Commodore Krux. The idea is quickly shot down by the party as the party desired some goods of their own, so it was eventually agreed that they would stick together and tackle the projects in turn. The first chore was to sell the goods salvaged from the Mind Flayer ship. Harry recommends we head to the Lesser Market where he and Thomas will work together to get a good deal on their goods. Not only do they get all of their goods sold at a single shop, but they get more for the goods than expected! The day was off to a good start.

The second task of the day was to secure a crew for the Moon Dancer as well as some folks to help repair the Mangonel on the ship. It was decided that 11 sailors would do for the bulk of the crew and a single hireling to aid if the ship continues to be assaulted while journeying. The sailors were easy enough to find in the Lesser Market. An experienced mercenary was going to require a visit to Xenotermination. At this point, Eeblock and Harry made their way back to the Moon Dancer to aid in ship and mangonel repairs. Eeblock left his mechanical homunculus with the party to keep in communication. The visit to Xenotermination was relatively brief. Thomas explained what the party's needs were to the clerk and was presented with an option to hire two lesser skilled mercenaries or one more experienced veteran. Jade and Thomas talked it over and decided they'd feel better taking the single, experienced mercenary over the other two, mainly due to the extreme dangers the party has faced and a fear that the less experienced mercenaries would be in over their heads. Thomas signed the contracts and instructed the clerk to have Cody meet the party at the Moon Dancer in two mornings.

The last chore for the day was to locate a shop where the party could acquire some aids to keep them safe. Thomas, who had been mapping the city as Harry led them around, knew the exact shop - Everything You're Looking For - right in the heart of the Lesser Market. It was a very well named bodega as it had everything the party was looking for even if they couldn't afford everything they wanted. It was eventually decided that a bag of holding was well worth the cost to ensure the party can take everything they need and still be able to return with loot. Thomas recommended the party purchase a Revivify scroll. It is a spell he is trying to learn and has a good chance to successfully use this scroll if one of his companions were to fall in combat. Eeblock, having witnessed Bob's demise requested a Ring of Mind Shielding, which among other things, would store the wearers soul if the wearer were slain. That soul can then communicate with the next wearer of the ring and could potentially be pulled from the ring and placed back into a body with the proper magics. Lastly, a potion of heroism for Jade to aid her in the highly intense battles. Having completed everything they wanted, the party, along with Harry, met back at the Frothing Mug for another evening of rest.
