Dino Island

The party, joined by Maxwell Boulder, arose the morning after acquiring supplies and made their way to the docks where they found the Investigator ready to depart. After paying the captain the agreed upon amount, they were ushered aboard and shown their cabins. The cabins went unused as it was a short trip to their destination. The Investigator anchored and the party was shuttled to a beach on the southwest side of the island via a small rowboat. After taking a moment to look around, it was decided that the most likely place to find Cornelius was on the mountain further inland. With no clear path through the jungle, Thomas decided to use his wilderness skills to negotiate a way through the jungle towards the mountain.
 
The way was tough as the jungle was extremely dense. None of the party had ever spent time in the jungle so it was difficult to tell if they were making good time or not. After some hours of traveling, a loud rumbling, like giant footsteps was heard as the ground shook. Moments later, the massive head and neck of a huge, lizard like creature pushed its way through the trees. None of the group had ever seen anything like this creature. It had a tail and walked on four legs like a lizard, but it had a massive body with a neck as long as it's tail and stood about 40' high. The creature paid little attention to the party as they stopped and stood in awe. Fortunately, Thomas stayed alert enough to notice that there were several smaller creatures off to their sides stalking them. As the large lizard creature moved on, Thomas alerted the rest of the party to the new threat and suggested they prepare for a combat. Thomas attempted to climb and hide in a tree, but was unable to gain purchase so he hid in a bush instead. Bob used a spell to quickly scamper 30' up a tree, while Jade, Eebrock and Maxwell stood with their backs towards each other in a defensive position. They had just taken their positions when 10, smaller, upright walking lizard type creatures rushed through the jungle towards them. Two of them began to climb the tree Eebrock was in, one of them was able to spot Thomas and rushed towards him. Five made their way to the trio in the defensive position while the last two were unable to reach anyone at this point. Obviously the creatures got the jump on the party and Maxwell suffered some serious wounds from the initial assault. Once the party was able to take some actions, things began to look better. Bob Misty Stepped to a different tree and began to launch Eldritch Blasts at the creatures. Jade went into a furious rage, with wild magic granting her the ability to teleport which she used to place herself in a position where she could slay the creature attacking Thomas. This freed up Thomas to enchant his bow with Hail of Thorns and fire an arrow, striking the creature in the middle of a group of three. Upon impact, thorny vines lashed out striking all three creatures, slaying the one struck and wounding the other two. Thomas used his horde breaking archery skills to quickly fire a second arrow at one of the wounded creatures slaying that one also. Eebrock used his newly enchanted gem to summon a creature to help him fight against one of the creatures engaged with him. After another volley by each side, this time with less success from the creatures, all but two creatures were slain and they scurried off quickly back into the jungle.
 
Thomas, seeing Maxwell pretty seriously injured, rushed over to use his last bit of magical energy to heal some of his wounds when another piercing cry was heard. It appears the creatures had backup and they were regrouping for another assault. It was at this time, when a large, four legged, triple horned lizard creature, ridden by a flamboyant lizard folk broke through the jungle near Jade. The lizard folk clearly fit the description given to them by Maxwell of Cornelius Doolan. Cornelius reached a hand out to Jade, declaring "Come with me if you want to live".
