Old Father Oak

The Old Father Oak is a truly ancient living oak tree that is considered sacred by the Druids of the Town of Oakfield. The tree is conservatively estimated to be at least 2,600 years old, and there is evidence of Druidic worship having been conducted here more than a thousand years.

Purpose / Function

Old Father Oak is a sacred tree for all the Druidic faithful of the region around the Town of Oakfield.  It is a massive, ancient tree located in a meadow surrounded by other oaks, half the age of Father Oak and still more than 1,000 years old.  This meadow is known locally as "Oakfield" and is the traditional root of the town and shire's name.

Tourism

Festivals are regularly held at the "Oakfield" as are marriages, child name day celebrations, and family reunions. Calendar festivals include Beltrane (March 20), Lughane (June 21), Samhane (November 1) and Mother's Night or the Winter Solstice (December 21).
