Sommerlund

Arguably the brightest and most powerful free nation on the face of Magnamund, Sommerlund is the leader of the Freeland Alliance and the first line of defence against the coming of the Darklands. As its brave and powerful warriors have done for centuries, Sommlending forces stand ready to turn aside the vile machinations of Naar’s dark generals whenever they show themselves in the light. Sommerlund’s steel, engineering, and tactics of war are all the most advanced in the world, made possible by the support of its many allies.

Structure

The nation of Sommerlund has an hereditary king, and is organized along feudal lines with the Barons of each city swearing fealty to the king.

Culture

Sommlending people are proud of their status as a bastion of light against the Darklands. Though most prefer peace, they take pride in their status as leaders of the Freelands Alliance. They can appear boastful to those from outside Sommerlund, but as a people, they have never failed to hold the line against Naar and his kin.

History

Throughout it history, Sommerlund has engaged in multiple wars with the Darklands. The most deadly of these were in MS 5050 when Darklord Zagarna carried out the Purge of the Kai and brought his armies to the gates of Holmgard itself. In MS 5060, Darklord Gnaag brought the armies of the Darklands sweeping across northern and southern Magnamund.

Military

In their role as foes of the Darklands, the Sommlending revere military service. They support multiple specialist military orders in service to Sommerlund: Kai Lords, Pathfinders, Knights of the Sun, and so on.
