Ashton
Demographics
The vast majority of the people who live here are farmers and fishermen, with a small number of merchants and craftspeople to provide necessary services and goods to the townsfolk. The rich soil here means most of the farmers do very well relatively speaking, and the merchants here tend to be of a higher social class as well. The village is predominantly humans, with only a handful of dwarf families making their home here.
Government
The town is governed by The Gratic Empire, who has an appointed Lord Magistrate of the Gratic Empire in this town to make sure taxes are being paid and the law is being upheld.
Defences
The town has been attacked by bandits from the forest in the past, and so there are many small wooden watchtowers around the settlement to keep an eye out for such activity. Beyond that, the village uses its small size and well-trained guards to keep it safe.
Industry & Trade
Most of the people here grow vegetables and grain, especially the bright orange carrots and russet potatoes that the town is known for across the Province. A significant number of fishermen also ply the waters of the Dólga Lake nearby and bring back several varieties of fish.
Infrastructure
The town is dominated by the three-story tall manor of the Magistrate near the city centre, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary.
Assets
Several underground storage cellars near the centre of town contain the various grown vegetables and dried fish that the town is known for. The Magistrate owns many valuables surrendered by bandits who have captured, and he keeps them well-guarded.
Guilds and Factions
Being a town of the Gratic Empire, the town is dominated by the guardsmen of The Imperial Army and a church of Imperial Temple. Scouts and secret members of other factions may be found here as well.
History
Ashton is most known (historically speaking) for its pivotal role in starting the Triland War in 9 I and its history of banditry in recent times.
Geography
Ashton is nestled in a valley near the edge of the Deranti Forest, with Dólga Lake nearby offering fresh water for the various crops of the village and the rich soil providing a good medium for farming.
