Redfort

"At the edge of the Deranti Forest, Redfort is most known for its tall wooden palisade that stands to this day. The Red Wall, as it is known locally, was originally the edges of the town's influence on its nearby terrain; only wood was allowed to be chopped outside of its bounds. Now, of course, the town is much too large and has grown beyond the palisade a few times in recent memory."   A History of the Deranti Forest

Demographics

The vast majority of the people here are humans of Gratic descent, but a significant number of Essic-Llenic people live in the western end of town. The Magistrate of the town and his many servants are paid well for their station, and the merchants that live here or pass through are quite wealthy but most people in the town barely eke out a living on the dying soil.

Government

Just like other small towns throughout the Empire, this town is ruled by a Magistrate appointed by the Head Magistrate in Gratic City.

Defences

The wooden palisades surrounding the town are its main layer of defence against invaders. The Magistrate's home has another wooden palisade around it, but it is significantly shorter and not as well protected.

Industry & Trade

Farming is the main industry in this area, with farmers easily making up 80% of the people here. The rest are shop owners, guards, and the Magistrate and his family.

Infrastructure

The most well-known structure in town is its wooden palisade walls, which are made of a particular kind of cedar tree that grows in this part of the forest. The other point of interest are the trio of ornately decorated wells which were built in the early days of the Empire and are still regularly used for local farms.

Assets

A few small warehouses in the centre of town contain the various foodstuffs and crafts produced by the locals, with the occasional merchant selling items of greater value. The Magistrate and his servants are well-paid and own many valuables, but they make sure that their money is well-guarded.

Guilds and Factions

As is usual with Empire towns, there are lots of guards that are members of The Imperial Army, and an Imperial Temple of Kiral is located in the direct centre of town. A couple of members of other official guilds live here as well, although they are mostly scouts or retired.

History

Redfort became part of the Empire just before the Triland War in 8 I . Since that time, it's been a centre of farming technology, with the store The Rancher's Value being a staple of the town's economy since the beginning of the Second Era.

Geography

The town is built at the edge of the Deranti Forest, and so it has an easily accessible supply of wood. There used to be many wells to provide water to the area, but the Great Drought has dried many of them up.
