Eternal Glades

The Eternal Glades are a regional of swamps and marshes along the southern Jakonian Peninsula. They are best known for being unsuitable for any habitation, and have been long restricted by the Emperors of Jakonia. They are believed to be highly dangerous, and the occasional emergence of great beasts and monsters has only reinforced this reputation. Occasionally bold adventurers or hunters enter into the Glades and come back with highly prized and exotic meats and hides, but most who enter the area fail to ever return. Legends speak of sunken cities and ancient citadels, but most, especially sailors, treat the whole region as a place of ill omen.

Fauna & Flora

The Eternal Glades are best known for the presence of massive alligators and snakes. Similarly, dozens of different types of deadly spiders and insects are also known to take a heavy toll upon any who enter. Very few mammals have much of a chance to survive in the area, although a wide variety of amphibians and other aquatic life make their presence known in the ecosystem. Few sentient beings inhabit the area, mostly consisting of hermits and other recluses seeking to escape the oppression of Jakonian society. Rumors abound of civilizations of lizardfolk or sentient frog people, but these have been firmly denied in credibility by imperial authorities.

Natural Resources

There are no significant or known natural resources within the borders of the Eternal Glades. Dedicated farmers find that the earth is too soggy for the growing of any agriculture, and the humid and brutal environment does little other favors. Exotic hides from the area are treasured by wealthy collectors, but it is widely agreed that attempting to obtain these hides is rarely worth the risk to life and limb.
