Jakonian Peninsula
The Jakonian Peninsula consists of the southeastern most region of the Emicaran mainland. This region has been often considered to be the center of human civilization over the past thousand years, where most of the culture and history has emerged and developed. The peninsula is the source of the Jakonian Empire and its growth, and is the most developed region in Emicara. The wealth of the peninsula has fueled many nations and the most powerful empire in recent history, and continues to be the center of human culture. The land is flat and open, with the exception of the lakes and forests, and elevation is incredibly low. The peninsula itself rests not on a foundation of rock, but instead upon ancient coral beds that lay below, helping fuel the fertility of the land above with the creation of a natural aquifer.
Fauna & Flora
The amount of development within the Jakonian Empire has caused much of the natural flora and fauna to be dramatically changed by the presence of civilization. Most dangerous creatures native to the region have been hunted to extinction or fled into more remote regions. Occasionally, dangerous creatures from the Eternal Glades will wander north, and have been doing this more and more as the Imperial Army enters into decline. The peninsula is still home to many of the insects of the Glades, often spreading north, and forming a nuisance to those who live in the area. The grasslands and forests of the region are home to many harmless animals and creatures that have learned to avoid the march of human boots.
Natural Resources
The natural wealth of the Jakonian Peninsula comes from the farmland. The peninsula was the agricultural breadbasket of the Jakonian Empire at its height, and not just because of the wealth of the Fruitlands. The mild climate year around allows for constant growing of a variety of crops, creating a constant surplus of food and naturally grown resources. The open lands of the southern part of the peninsula have been divided among ranchers, and herds of cattle provide for the constantly growing demand for meat among the masses. Outside of the farmlands are the curated forests of the peninsula, which provide ample lumber for construction and fuel for fires.
