Draakhn (ˈdrækn)

The language spoken by the Ancient Dragonkin is known as Draakhn (ˈdrækn) (With a trilled "r").   The Dragonbane Order considers this language to be blasphemous because they oppose dragonkin being part of society; they blame all the Ancients for the Twenty Year Scourge and Draconian War. They argue that a dragonkin with the ability to understand and comprehend language, either their own or human languages, poses a significant threat to mankind, as they clearly have some kind of cognitive ability. They often refer to the events of the Draconian War and the preceding decades to support their argument, using the historical conflict as evidence that such an event could potentially occur again in the future.

Writing System

Due to the dragonkin's lack of dexterity compared to humans, they will scratch their script into various surfaces using their sharp claws, horns, or any other sharply pointed extremities. Most of the graphemes are written from top to bottom and also sideways, as it’s easier to write in various mediums while writing with a claw.

Phonetics

The phonetics of the language are similar to English, but they don't use both fricative "th" phonemes: air through the teeth and the vocalized version. IPA: θ ð   Those two phonemes get replaced either with a "j" (IPA: ʤ) sound or a "zh" (IPA: ʒ) sound, respectively.   The language also uses the trilled or rolled "r", such as in the case of the language's name itself.
