Gartas System
Star system in the Arcturus galaxy that features a stellar engine megastructure making the system capable of movement.
The stellar engine seems to be automated, as the precursor technology it is comprised of does not seem to decay. It is taken on routes around nearby star clusters seemingly aimlessly, but is always moving. It is presumably bound within a sphere about 2000 ly across. No one knows why it was built, but the first faction to lay claim to it was the Alti Dominion. However, they lost the system to a joint Republic of Miasi - Hyperion Federation assault force during the Operation: Behemoth war.
The Gartas star itself is a very bright class B main sequence star. Although it now nears the end of its life, the megastructure is still being near-constantly studied, especially by the HF. Though a few fear that it could supernova, that realistically wont happen for millions of years, which is considered a short time relative to the cosmological scale. Despite the fact the star moves constantly, often changing velocity, the guidance system of the stellar engine only moves the star when it can keep all the planets in stable orbits around it. Some of these worlds are also habitable, making the system quite valuable. One issue that the mobile nature of the system causes is that it can make logistics difficult. There is little preventing it from wandering between Miasi and Alti territory, sometimes penetrating deep. Obviously, the dominion would never allow HF or miasi ships to pass through their territory, so the system had to be made very self-suffcient.
