Nobody knows when Tethys, the world, was born. And the question, who was the real creator, still stands. Was it The Titans or The First Gods?
The main world timeline, from the creation to the current age - the Fifth Age.
Nobody knows when Tethys, the world, was born. And the question, who was the real creator, still stands. Was it The Titans or The First Gods?
The Titans create the known races and creatures of Tethys.
The Titan War truly begins, when The First Gods aim their weapons against the Titans. First to make a move is the Translusent Traveler, who shoots at the God-Killer but The Diplomat intervienes, trying to stop the conflict before it has begun. Unfortunetly, he is incinerated and the other Titans retreat, while the God-Killer is imprisoned.
The First Gods kill the God-Killer in his prison, sparking anger in many Titans. Those convinced to peace - The Elder and Elohim retreat to never be seen again.
A great battle ensues between The First Gods and the Titans, creating a huge rift between lands. During this moment The Leader/Warrior sacrifices himself, so the other Titans can deal a devastating blow to the Gods, who are forced to retreat for a long period of time.
Atlas hid from the Titan War before it even began and offers his services to The First Gods. Marked by many as the Betrayer Titan, he awaits the moment the Gods must use his knowledge to win the war.
The Sunlord tries his best to convince the lonely titan Patient One to submit, however, the titan is master of planning and sees what is going on in the land. Denounces the Sunlord arguing that while he comes to him, his allies steal their mortals by extending the worship to death and magic, increasing the domain of the Gods tenfold.
The First Gods try their best to convince the Titans to surrender but alas some aren't convinced. During the talks, Patient One and All-Father strike against the gods, only to be surprised that the Dragon Mother and Great Mother aren't helping them. Outnumbered, the two Titans are imprisoned, while the rest scatter.
During the Titan War, the Sunlord uses his powers to blacken the skies of non-believers, showing his mastery of the life-giving sun rays. Many flock to worship him, denying the Titans their numbers.
The First Gods try to imprison Father of the Forge in a trapped volcano, however, the titan Caretaker intevienes by flooding it with seawater.
Due to the amount of Titans, Vecna enlists the help of Atlas to kill the Titans: the Father of the Forge and the Caretaker.
Atlas showed his true nature and betrayed the Gods, seriously wounding them. His ultimate plan failed.
The Gods united and chained Atlas into the planet's north pole. There he holds the weight of the celestial bodies.
The Titan Chronos appeared, everybody - God and Titan alike, didn't remember his disappearance in the first place and they would forget it again. His kin was either slaughtered or imprisoned, in anger he used his powers to create the Divergence. Where all would forget about the First World and that the The First Gods were the heroes. This would shape the world in a new timeline. This event in itself would be forgotten until Chronos' return in the Fifth Age, Current Age.
When the Weave of Time stabilized, new (and old) Gods appeared. With Titans imprisoned a war of resources was brewing.
A war breaks between the Dragons and Elves. Nobody knows who really started it, both sides point the finger to the other one. The main opponents of this conflict are the Wise One and the Jade Emperor. This conflict would see many deaths on both sides and would continue until the end of the Godswar.
The Dwarves split into two races - Duergar (known also as the Ash Dwarves) and Azer (known as the Ember Dwarves). This is due to the imprisonment of their creator - Father of the Forge and the coming of the Forge Pantheon (the Dwarven Pantheon). The Azer escape to the Plane of Fire, while the Duergar hide underground, fearing the wrath of the Gods.
The Divine King announces himself as the ruler of all. While most would ignore this, some would be provoked to action. One such group of gods was the Elemental Forces who would deny the Divine King his rulership over the very nature. This conflict would ravage the whole Old World continent and continue to brew for a very long time.
A group of mortals would achieve the status of Demigods and would use these newfound powers to wage war against other gods, trying to steal their powers. This conflict would touch every continent in the world of Tethys. In time their numbers would swell, as well as their courage as their targets would be even The First Gods themselves.
Some of the Azer and Duergar dwarves defy their brothers and sisters and start to worship the Forge Pantheon. A cival war erupts between the planes with the Gods intervening, spiriting away their worshippers. The Azer dwarves were moved to the hills and deserts, turing into the Hill Dwarves, while the Duergar were spirited to the plains and mountains, turning into the Mountain Dwarves.
A great war broke out after the First Age, The Titan War between the Halfling tribes. It would see many of them dead, easy pickings for more powerful beings. The war stopped thanks to an intervention of the Translucent Traveler.
A mortal human calling himself Great Avatar ascends to become a True God of paladins. As his first objective, he turns to Vecna as his target, trying to get rid of him and maybe take his powers. The allies of the Great Avatar would be known for millennia to come as the first paladins.
The conflict between the Divine King and Elemental Forces was peaking and the greater power was running out of options. Using all of his might he smote the gods of elements, forcing their retreat. This wasn't without cost as the Old World would change, almost one third of it falling into water creating the Great Islands.
Nearing the end of the Elder War, the dragons used their powers to take control over the Foundation Pillars and with them creating disasters on the continent of Archeron. This was a ploy to lure out the Wise One and the other Elven gods, however, it didn't work. The elves saw through the treachery and retreated before the powers of the Pillars was used against them. Not having a target, the force hit the continent rupturing it. Most of it survived but the rest fell into the deep waters, while other parts formed the Elven Lands and Lands of Storm.
On the Godforge Lands continent, the armies of Celestials and Fiends clash in one last battle of the age. This was the defining moment as there wasn't a time such a huge force amassed in one region and the artifact known as the Godslayer Sword was used. One of the Fey wanted to stop the battle by stealing the sword and breaking it. This sealed the fate of the continent as the energies from the battle and the artifact annihilated almost all forces and split the continent.
After the destruction of the Godswar, the gods decided that they have to stop or there won't be any lands to rule over. The First Gods were the main proponents of the idea and with their powers they were able to enhance the Foundation Pillars, closing all rifts to the other planes and changing the world forever.
The Godswar ended. The gods and their armies retreated to the planes. For the first time in a very long while, Tethys is at peace. Creatures travel around, trying to find their place. Many start new families, while most try their best to survive in this new broken world.
Mortals finally free from constant conflict make their way to start building a new world for themselves. Villages form that turn into towns. Many generations would pass for Humans, while the long-lived races would stay in their homes, still living the nightmares of the Godswar. When they would leave their shelters, the world would be changed even for them.
Continents flourish thanks to establishing trade between major towns and cities. While they would stay ignorant of each other, they could still the nearby scars that the Godswar wrought upon them and it would make them wary of establishing long distance contact.
A new race of humans emerges calling themselves the Goldbloods and with patronage from the Divine King himself, they would build the foundation of their new empire - Divine Kingdom.
The foundation of the Ossyria kingdom ruled by the God-Kings of Ossyria. It would take them over a thousand years to fully unite the Azura desert and become a mighty empire. This process would end in the last battle called Drowning of the Duat, where he nomadic tribes (steered by Demons and Devils) were finally defeated.
The elves of the Old World learn about the fate of the Elven Lands. Most of this information is left unsaid to other mortals, the elves travel to their homelands in secret. Only very few decide to do so as they do not want to see the horrible fate the Godswar brought on them.
Wars break out between the tribes and kingdoms of the world. No matter where it was, blood was spilled. Many fought for survival, while others for dominance. During nearly one thousand years of conflict, it is assumed that millions died due to purges and strife.
Life in the Azura and Arakhor continents isn't pleasant. Many demons and devils still roam the lands. They hid for hundreds of years, choosing this moment to strike. While Azura would be struck mainly by Demons, the Arakhor people would be subjugated by the Devils. It would take generations of people to finally have peace.
After major conflicts between the elves in the Elven Lands, the gods decide to take the matter into their own hand by creating an elven pantheon. Ruled by the Wise One and Savioress. This stops all conflict in those lands for millennia, as it becomes holy land for many of the elves.
The Godswar ended for the mortals, at least that's what they hoped. A new conflict brewed in the Old World, where the Elemental Forces Pantheon rebelled against the mortals. For dozens of years, the mortals had to fend off elementals until the Divine King intervened and subjugated the pantheon.
A great war would start in the Sailan continent as dragons would rage upon the lands, trying to unite them under their banner. This conflict would mark the beginning of the Jadeite Empire as only one can survive in the end.
For many, the Shadow War was a dark time in the Arakhor as a massive force of Shadow Elves returned to the continent and waged a war like no other. No Tieflings of that time were prepared what was to become. Over the centuries, the elves gained land after land. The last battle in the Despair Mountains was cataclysmic. The forces of Veilishaar were stationed in dozens of fortresses in the mountains and were ready to assault the demonic tribes in the east when the earth rumbled and a powerful spell exploded the mountain range. Crippled, the war turned back and the Tieflings of Arakhor were able to drive back the army of darkness back to their forest but they weren't able to defeat them at their own home turf, instead building great walls around it to stop further invasions.
Wanting to lessen strife to the lesser races, the gods of Gnomes and Halflings meet up to create a truce amongst them. In the time it would flourish to something more. Translucent Traveler becomes the leader of the Little Folk's Home pantheon.
The Halflings' tribes were united again, thanks to the wanderlust of their Lightfoot brethren. They would organize many feasts all around the world and thanked the Translucent Traveler for making them survive the millennia. This marked the moment that the goddess became recognized as the true patron of the race.
The dwarves begun their grand project - Dawi Way, a megastructure build beneath Tethys in Undertethys. At first, it took them 100 years to carve tunnels between major cities but as the dwarves are specific creatures, they didn't stop and continued. After 1000 years, all dwarven cities in the Old World, Venland and Azura were connected with underground passages that were not only grand but the major reason for huge profits for the dwarven race.
The Jadeite Empire launched an invasion upon the Old World. Their ships would not only attack the continent from the east but also from the west. Led by dragons, their armies were vast and the kingdoms in the Old World weren't united like the Jade. The conflict would see many kingdoms fallen, millions dead and countless treasures plundered by the invading hordes. Those surviving would band together, forming greater nations to fight against them like the Divine Kingdom, Isagorth and Lepidia. However, even they were unmatched by the ferocity of their new enemies. It wasn't until it rained... sand, that the enemies would retreat.
During the invasion of Jadeite Empire it started to rain sand. This devasted the lands not only in the Old World but also in Sailan and other continents. While the rain itself didn't last many years, the repercussions would devastate the whole of Tethys for nearly one hundred years. It was quickly revealed that those behind the plot were the God-Kings of Ossyria and they were stopped by the forces of the Divine Kingdom. The Dragonswar saw millions dead to war, the Rain of Sand saw more dead around the globe as starvation and pestilence would take its place.
When the lands returned to its former glory, the conflicts of old stopped. Even the mighty dragons of the Jadeite Empire stopped their conquests and reached peace with the nations of the Old World. It would take more than that to heal the old wounds but it was a start many sought out for and even more saw this as a chance to create a better world. This was the beginning of the era known as the Era of Peace.
The gods of Elves and Dragons create an alliance that in time would become the Elder Pantheon. The main instigators are the Wise One and Gilded Hand, making some furious. One such person - Jade Emperor creates his own pantheon in spite (Chromatic Alliance), while another plots to undermine her father.
The high cleric of Ossyria uses the Foundation Pillar - Me'at'Ilimmu to achieve godhood. Setkuteth would be first and only mortal to use the powers of the Pillars to do so and with it would bring destruction upon Tethys. During these twenty years, clerics and paladins would lose access to their spells, gods would not answer prayers and travel from the Material Plane would be almost impossible. Another war with Ossyria started and many nations would join hands to fight against them but they were unable to be victorious. It wasn't until the people of Ossyria themselves mounted a rebellion against their new god, killing him at the Pillar. This, however, was a major mistake. With his death, his powers went rampant and destroyed major parts of the desert, killing millions, creating the place known as the Blasted Lands of Azura.
Divine Kingdom saw an opportunity. The constant war and conflict in the Old World makes it weak, disorganized and easy prey for outside forces. Their leaders decide to unite the continent under their rule. Those that would bow down, would make vassals, while others would be forced by hand to join. The conflict took over two hundreds of years of constant conflict with Isagorth and Lepidia being the most troublesome to unite. While Isagorth would be wiped off the map, Lepidia surrendered and became a vassal state. The Divine Kingdom didn't allow necromancy but saw no other choice than to let the Ghols live their lives. After the conflict ended, the kingdom would become an Empire, having under its wings nearly 2/3 of the continent.
The gods - Divine King, Trinity and Divine Sword join forces creating the Divine Court pantheon and becomes worshipped by the majority of humans in the Old World.
Black Powder is invented by the people of the Seljuk Empire. At first, it was used on ships as cannons and over the years personal weapons showed up. This changed the face of the world and created more conflict and strife.
A major plague hits the world of Tethys called the Scourge Plague. It is able to kill the elderly within a day or two after contracting it. The plague spreads due to it being invisible, asymptomatic, as you don't show symptoms until it is too late. Holy men weren't able to stop it as it killed people en masse and shutting down travel barely helped. Many historians speculate the death toll was in millions and destroyed many economies. Some speculate that it killed nearly half of the world population.
The kingdoms of Archeron unite under one banner and call themselves the Archadian Empire. Their goal is to promote knowledge, intellect, and magic. Many colleges and universities are built on the continent and divisions on others. The empire becomes the forefront of thought. Most attribute the success of their work against the Scourge Plague as the main reason they united.
The Elder Pantheon's elven side is shattered by inner conflict and war as the Wise One barely survives an assassination attempt by his daughter, Assassin. This is a prelude to a bigger conflict in Tethys.
A massive invasion of the forces of Undertethys led by Exarchs of Assassin and Ashen Axe. They are able to besiege many capitals and taking the heads of ruling states. Only the Venland is spared, allowing the Vendel League to become mercantile "gods" selling weapons.
The War of the Underworld didn't end with a decisive victory for the surface dwellers, instead of when they were about to win, the whole world trembled. And trembled. Earthquakes and tsunamis hit civilization, allowing the invaders to retreat as the surface would be the most hit by these disasters. Nobody really knew what was going on, until a group of elves saw the destruction upon the Atlas' Prison. It was obvious, the titan Atlas was planning something. The combined might of elves and dragons stopped Atlas from moving and enhanced his prison. To stop this from happening again, the Titan Watchers were created.
The Wise One and Savioress regain their powers and use them to banish their children - Assassin, Eternal Blade and Betrayed One. Instead of being stripped of powers, they found new allies in the Chromatic Alliance.
Not only mortals wanted to stop Atlas from shifting and wrecking havoc upon Tethys. The Sunlord used his energies to awaken Asta into a goddess to have influence over tsunamis and earthquakes (to lessen their extent on the mortal realm). However, something went terribly wrong. Asta grew smaller and behind her, another moon showed up - Astrea. Two goddesses were born - Asta and Astrea. This was also the moment the aspect known as Cruel Sun appeared before his followers.
This is the date the first Airship was created. It's maiden voyage was to visit as many capitals as it could starting in the Archadian Empire, then flew to the Jadeite Empire and Divine Empire, before returning home. This marked the beginning of a new era, era of the Magitech. Many historians of that time described it as a new age, ending the Third Age, Kingdoms. However, that wouldn't be so.
The race of Warforged is created. Most of their job is to help the Archadian Empire by safeguarding its borders. Over time they receive more tasks and become a sentient species. It would take many centuries before they would be recognized by something more than servants.
The Archadian Empire was the leading for in all Magitech and their next course was weapons. At first, those were bulky vehicles manned by one person, later it would turn to personal armor, allowing users to fly and shoot magitech weapons at their enemies.
The invention of the Arcanetrain marked the change of an Age. Many argued that the world was ruled by two major powers - the Jadeite Empire and the Divine Empire. With this invention, allowing the Archadian Empire to transport masses of people and resources in rapid transit between cities, showed everybody who has become the undisputed rulers. Nobody could match their Magitech and now, with the ability to transport weapons and armies in rapidly, nobody would ever dare to face them in battle. The Age of Arcanum has begun.
The proudest achievement of the Archadian Empire, at least those that were made public, the Arcanevessel was a magical ship capable of leaving the Material Plane and not only able to go to any plane but also visit the The Gods Plane as well as the Conduits (External Plane). This was huge. Mortals having the ability to tap into the powers of Gods with ease? To change Free Will itself? To use the building blocks of the universe? The True Gods weren't happy and want happened next, might be why they reacted so slowly.
The emperor of the Divine Empire is assassinated. His death is a mystery as there is no weapon or magic known that killed him.
A series of assassinations across the globe are committed. The only targets are heads of states, similar to the death of the previous emperor.
Evidence is found that the group responsible for the assassinations is called Divine Hollow, who use powers gained from the Titans to destroy kingdoms.
After it is revealed who assassinated the heads of states, revolutions spark all over the globe. Thanks to magitech becoming commonplace the enemy is capable of mass communications and organizing uprising everywhere.
Magnumpoli was the capital of the Archadian Empire, the center of Magitech and innovation. City of Cities. The Icon known as the Warmonger chose this Arcanum City as his first victim. When he showed up, he ripped apart the Magic Thread, destroying all magic. The city fell, killing untold millions as not only the city was destroyed, the surrounding towns and villages as well, like a asteroid hit the continent. This marked the first empire to fall by the Icons and it wouldn't be the last.
A powerful plague hits the capital of the Divine Empire, Sangville called the Bloodboil. This is orchestrated by one of the Icons - Hunted/Hunter. Most of the nobility is hit, as well as many of the Halfbloods. The Divine Empire is crippled.
The biggest dwarven pride, the Grand Way, the Dawi Way was destroyed due to a series of magma floods, earthquakes, and explosions, as well as monsters flooding the areas. Almost all of it fell, disconnecting Dwarves from having a major impact against the Icons and it all was done by Vulcanus, the Icon of Father of the Forge. A revenge is best served lava-hot.
The great Jadeite Empire has fallen prey to Titan Wyrm, one of the Icons. With this everything changed, the Icons were on the winning side and started to enslave the majority of the population, creating slave kingdoms that worked under one banner - Iconian Empire.
The Gods would choose among the mortals, the ones that would be granted their godly gift, creating the first Exarchs since the Second Age, Godswar. One such person, Aurelius, would route the Icons from the Old World. The time for Divine Retribution has come.
A quarter of a century, that's how short of a time it took for the Icons to regain their strength. During this time, many around the world celebrated thinking it is the end of it.
The assassination of Aurelius and many of the Exarchs showed the world that the Divine Hollow and the Icons returned. Many would speculate that maybe the influence of the Gods was the problem, it might have fueled the return of the Icons.
The powerful mage Zemvoj sacrifices himself during combat with he Warmonger. His theory that only mortals, real Heroes/Villains can stop the Icons, not True Gods, Chosen of God or Exarch. He is proved right, as the Warmonger's death, his body would decay rapidly upon the lands and his essence would return to the soil.
Now, when the mortals know how to defeat the Icons, many would follow the example set by Zemvoj and the organization, Titan Watchers would swell in numbers, become the main "supplier" of Heroes/Villains. Over a hundred years it would take to take out the other Icons, one by one. During this time, another plot brewed in the kingdom of Lepidia.
Many mark this as the start of Vecna's plot to ascend. The Icon Kardion was not defeated in Lepidia by the combined might of the undead and the Titan Watchers. He had to be imprisoned, until someone worthy was able to defeat him in combat. Very few knew that the clerics of Vecna and his necromancers would work upon the Icon's flesh, gathering enough for their god to start his devious plan.
Last of the Icons (not counting Kardion) would fall dead to the combined might of the mortals. Many would think this bleak time in their history to be over, time to rebuild, however, one god thought otherwise. Vecna, the great god of Undeath and Death, would use the enslaved Icon Kardion to channel his powers through him and his deceased brethren, using a powerful amount of Life Spark. This would grant him the ability to bypass the Divine Laws and become the Overgod. During this time, the world would start to quake, tsunamis, and volcanos would erupt. For many, it would be felt like the end of the world.
By the combined might of the True God and their mortal servants, Vecna would be stopped at the continent of Archeron. The last stand would take place and the god known as the Wise One would be empowered by others to break through the barrier and strike a mortal blow against the Lich. Vecna would lose not only his chance of ascension but also his hand and eye. During this moment, one of the gods would become an Overgod for a split second, allowing them to create a new Divine Law known as Vecna's Law. With this enacted, all Gods returned instantly to their Gods Planes. Vecna was defeated, the Icons as well (Kardion would escape his cell and go into hiding), this marked the end of the Fourth Age, The Calamity.
It was like after an apocalypse, the grand continent of Archeron was destroyed (or more changed into islands), most coastlines were ravaged, some islands sunk and many more were lost. For the next half-century, the mortals would have the hardest time to rebuild, most turning into banditry and raiding. Monsters needed to be curtailed and villages and towns rebuild, before cities and countries could.
A major conflict between the dwarves in the Limul-torish Mountains as they felt guilty over letting the non-dwarf races to starve in the Post-Calamity Era, which became a "blame game" among themselves that turned bloody. It ended with signing a new alliance with the Divine Empire as well as the start of their own - Alliance of Five Crowns.
The Titan Chronos has returned once again, hidden from everyone's mind and memory in the Weave of Time to strike against the The First Gods once more. Memory of the Gods is returned, the First World isn't a myth and is a myth at the same time! While new people emerge at this moment and a whole new continent strikes the Old World. Chronos returns to the Weave but the world won't be the same as before. During this time Magistorm has changed and Magihails appeared, with them the race of Aetherborn.
20 years after the The Second Divergence happened, the people who came to this world from the First World change into zombies called Chrombies. Even if its only some, the fear was enough to start wars and purges against those that wore the mark - of the Chronoplague.
